EU partners only
As soon as a company is based in the USA, they have obligations towards the USA national agencies. This is true, wherever the data is stored. A German datacenter of Amazon is still concerned by the USA-surveillance laws.
For this reason, when we need a partner to store or process data, we only chose amongst European Union companies. Or when possible we self-host the tool.
Our servers and the storage is managed by OVH, a French company, and we picked datacenters in France.
For analytics or data tools we work with Sentry and Metabase but we hosted their open-source software on our own servers.
This ensures the real sovereignty over your most precious data.
All data stays in Europe
Working EU companies but picking datacenters outside of EU would ruin the point. So in Flocon, every photo or video you upload stays in the European Union and will never leave it, whereas it requires processing or backup: everything happens only in Europe.
Also it means we’re fast because your data is close to your location.
A protective business model
We chose a very simple business model: you pay a monthly subscription depending on the storage space you use. We calculated the subscription amount so it covers all our costs. We don’t need more money to be profitable.
That has a very strong implication: we don’t have any interest into sharing nor selling your data. We just don’t need to do it! Contrary to other platforms that may offer a similar service for free. They need to earn money so if it’s free you know what it means…
No intrusive tracking
Some people and some companies like to gather as much data as possible, and later see what they can do with it. Who can the most, can the least.
We don’t think like that. We only collect the data we really need to operate Flocon correctly. So there is no pixel tracking, no fingerprinting, the emails we send are not tracked, etc… And the data is either anonymized either stored in our own servers.
No ads, ever
Whereas it’s on this website, or in the apps, you’ll never see any ad. Because our business model is sane, we don’t need to sell your data to advertisers.
FloconFlocon is operated by Flocon SAS,
a French company, bootstraped,
and based in Paris.
Also we pay our taxes.
Our servers run with decarboned electricity.
